At first I just wanted to make a few like I had, that is when I learned of all the different colors and possibilities. Much to my wife's dismay... I have spent a small fortune on materials and a few tools, however I am now making jigs while sitting in front of the TV in the evenings. I have had so many requests from friends and family that I can't keep up with all the new stuff they are dreaming up... and you know if you are going to make something new for them to try out, you have to make a few to put in your box of tricks as well. Size: 124 Bytes A manager at the local bait shop after seeing some of my jigs has now asked me if he can give out my name for when people ask for someone that can make custom jigs... I told him I would get back to him. I think I have created a monster here... although I do have to say I enjoy the creativity that tying jigs brings, just not sure I want this to turn into something where it becomes a chore.

I stopped reading after your post so that I didn't skew what I was thinking.
To me, honestly, it depends on your free time.
Every second I get a free second, I want to fish. When I started tying for others, that time was completely gone. I wanted everybody else to experience what I do from MY Lures. I gave away to every local guy who asked. It made me happy to see people catch when I Cldnt. Never charged a dime. And even left a few mad. Just wasn't worth it anymore. The only jigs I tie anymore are for when I can go fish, bc I know my lures will last. And they're pretttttty.... To me anyways.
If I find a something I can't do, it excites me to try. Even more when I can teach it to someone afterwards. I credit that to the fella that taught me.
Lots of stuff to try, when I get too bored and can't fish. Just none too exciting yet.
My boys are gon be good tye'ers. And I credit that to all those that spent the extra seconds to help me also. They'll be great fisherman, bc of me.
