jigolo I used to tie a lot more than I do now. But after filling 20 plus jig boxes I slowed down. Here lately I have felt the NEED to tie again. WHY because my creative juices were flowing. I hit times like that so when you want to tie and do the best job that you can. I feel that that is when a person does a better job when they want to or feel a need to rather than HAVE to. As far as motivation it is different for each one of us you might have to look with in to find your true answer.

I look for motivation myself in forums sometimes. It helps. It stirs up the imagination on what you could make new that would catch fish. Use these and other forums and just do like your doing. Getting feedback and suggestions from others. I like to join "Jig Swaps" if the forums are having any. I have even volunteered to host one to keep me motivated. Hope this helps. The jig looks great BTW!
USAF Retired and fishing!
I only tied two last night.
What keeps me motivated is trying something completely different than what I have done before, and searching other forums looking at what others do, and what I can do with their design to make it better for my purpose.
It is a creative thing with me. Also, keeping me and my family stocked up in our favorite go-to jigs can get tedious but is needed to get the fish in the boat.
Tie something weird or different even if it will never see the water, just to play.
Try a bug jig, or a cricket jig, just to see how close you get.
thanks for all the kind comments! it does inspire the problem i have is i got ton of stuff to tie with and no motivation to tie. this is cause the boxes are full and i glad they are but that is why i joined is to get more motivation on the jig tying. maybe i have to start selling them lol's sooner or later? any ways thanks for all the thought and time you gave me!
I'm still pretty new to all this but love it. I didn't get into it to make a bunch of different jigs, but to make a few colors and styles that I really like and learn to make them look as nice as I can make them look.
One of things that really got me going on my recent horse heads I've made goes back 25 years ago. My grandpa and me were fishing off the bank for spawning crappie and an older man was there also. He was catching the thunder out of them on gray horse heads that he had made himself. I have always though about that. This weekend I went in a boat and caught fish in the exact same little cut on gray horse heads I made. The old man in gone now but I felt like I was catching some just for him. Kind of a sappy story but strong motivation at this time.
Fish like your hungry!
