I bet that it would be something that they would keep the rest of there lives even if they didn't get involved deeply in the hobby. I have the basic equipment of several of the hobbies that I was involved in. Something the kid will have to deal with one day. The AA vice is very similar to the old Thompson A. It has lasted me a good long time thur many long sessions and many thousands of hooks from Size 16 to 8/0. Can't ask for much better.

Check out this little set up. You would need to get a different whip tool. I would also advise that you invest in some ceramic bobins in the future also. It would work for getting their own station.

This is a copy of the regal vice that I have myself. I love it. Crappipappa also ties on one of these.

Skip posted this article several months back. It is full of some great info and worth the read.

Okay guys, ordered two economy kits from Jsflyfishing. Also ordered two Dr. Slick whip finish tools similar to mine. They are brass handle and mine is wood, but the tying part is the same.

Mama got on the computer after me and ordered a bunch of chenille, flashabou, and some other things. She loves colors so she had fun with that, and got to be involved in the fly tying stuff at the same time!!

Thanks guys for all your help!! And getting me in touch with these sites!
Got to order a danvise extension for a stocking stuffer also. Can't wait to get that on!

I'll never own one and really wouldn't know what to do with it if I did but watched Norms video's last night on his Nor-Vise. That thing is slick. I can see where it would be nice for someone that tied fly's all the time.

Hey, can you post a link, or maybe tell me where that is?? I'd like to see that as well. Although I'll never buy one either. My Danvise was a strech for me. But I do love it!

Good to hear your boys are getting into tying scrapper.

I have a new nor vise and extras at home still in the box I've been working 300 miles from home 80 hrs a week and have not had time to get that rig out yet. I have about 800$ invested and no time to use it lol

Again I'm glad to hear your boys like to tie this will be with them for the rest of their lives. Good job sir

Try this one. It will show several others in a series on how to use the vise.

I have been tying on a Nor vise for about 7 or 8 years now. Have about every conversion they make including 2 of the fine point ones because the older one I had and the newer one was going to make it easier for my tying if I used it. My video linked in the sticky is using my Nor. Actually I have 2 of them and a Renzetti Salt Water Traveler with Cam Jaw which I only used for about a year before I got the Nor. Then I did have a Peak since I sell them, but someone talked me out of mine.
