As some have already said, try it first and coat it good with sally's or something and you'll be set. As fast as we lose em in brush I would think they would do just fine. Taking bids on the rack?

Think in the old days pre war years that was about the only thing that was used. It was only after the war that a lot of the for fly tying material was developed. If it worked way back when it should work now. The question that I would ask is if you weren't able to get any jig tying thread what would you use???? I would use what ever was handy. I put back enough that I shouldn't have any problems for a year or two any ways.

I assume you apply it under your chanelle and then again on your whip?

actually, after I secure my chenille (before wrapping) I place a drop of superglue on which soaks thru the chenille to the thread wrap, then I wrap the chenille, whip finish & secure with head cement. As a rule, I only apply Sally's to the head & then only to help seal/secure the eyes.

My first jigs I ever tied were 3/8 and 1/2 oz bucktails like guys were using in the river for walleye and musky.I'd hold the hook and some hair in one hand and wrap with sewing thread.I'd coat the thread with super glue or some nail polish if we had some.

under the bed in the Guest Bedroom. It was the late 80's when my wife was sewing up a storm for the daughter's clothes. The rack & thread has been shuffled from closet to closet to under the bed for over 20 years. I took a length of a nice Blue and used a clamp to weight 1 end and tied this with it just to test the strength. I tugged on it pretty good and it held up fine.

    Thought's anyone?
I gave all the Cotton/Polyester blend to the daughter to sew with & just kept the 100% Polyester. Ended up with several hundred yards of light pink, black, blue, gold, pastel green, brown & white.
