I guess I still have a lot to learn Skip! ALL my jigs have a hard spot where I hit the finish with a drop of head cement! The size of the hard spot depends on the size of the cement drop. Skip, The concoction you make yourself, what is that? Didn't you say it holds good but doesn't harden?

It just soak is very fast and is thin so the only place it dries in at the thread. It penetrates fast and then dries fast leaving nothing to feel other then the chenille. I bought a Qt. of Clear High Gloss Lacquer and I mix that 50/50 with MEK thinner. I like MEK because it dries fast and also can be used on Vinyl also. It's not something you want to get on your hands and such, but works great! This will never leave a hard spot and no one will ever know where you placed your glue or even if you used it.

The only thing I don't like about MEK is the odor, oh and it's a carcenogen. Don't inhale a bunch at once. We use it in my engine shop by the gallon. As skip says, don't get too much on your skin at one time and you should mix it in a well ventilated area away from open flame because it will go POOF! Thanks for the recipe Skip. As Pepop said, mine all have a hard spot too. I'm going to try Skips method whe its time to get new cement.

I do use one of the little plastic bottles with a metal tip and plastic cap. I also after every use I bang it on the bottom one or two times before I put it down because I don't want it staying in that tube and blocking it. I keep a couple other bottles one with some MEK and one with some Lacquer in them so I can add more in and not have to open the Qt. cans every time. You could also use a bodkin to place a drop where you want it. Like one of the glass bottles with the Bodkin in the lid? Oh and never try a brush type for this.
