    Default A Up Date

We the old Redman is getting ready for what appears to be a good start to the Fall Crappie Season. Temps have been in the 50's the last few nights and we have gotten some more rain to help fill the lake. Told you that I would check in to see how you were all behaving. See that most of you have gotten good marks for deportment.

Have been working on a few new patterns and will see how they work before posting pictures of them. Found a new Cracker Jack Material that I think will beat the Heck out of the tinsel that I have been using. More action and the cost is unbelievably low.

Mold work is going slow have been working steady on one in particular but it is still not to by liking. The only hint that I will give you is if it works out be ready to buy a Shad Dart head mold. You also might need a couple of tubes of J B weld also.

Rest of the news from Caddo Crappie Camp is the fall garden is about planted. The Black lab has a ear infection. Chocolate Lab is in Heat ( one week to go) . Wife's health has been up and down could get more work done if I wasn't making all these trips to the doctor but I love her and have to take care of her. Still haven't taken the time to go out and kill any Teal. Guess I am holding up ok still smoking my pipe and grinning.

Tight lines and hope you feel a thump on the end of your line till the next up date be well and good fishing.

Good to hear from you, updates always good. I'm still working more than I want to, things to fix are piling up, hoping the stupid grass quits growing soon, didn't do the Dove this year, and fish are still hitting cranks as of last weekend. Bench time is low, weather should change that soon. Other than that it's just another day I've been blessed with and try hard to focus on the good and ignore the frustrating..... Sometimes I even get it done.

Quick up date Every thing is in place for a good fall crappie season. They are forecasting rain for early next week We need the rain as we are still down and the rain will help the fishing. Cool nights should bring the crappie into the river to chase the shad. We always have a good run of the shad in the first of November. I always start fishing around the 16 of October. Our health has improved both the wife and mine. Blood pressure is at a normal level and I feel a lot better. Still have to drop a few pounds I am trying but it's hard for a old geezer like me to drop weight. My fall garden is doing good will be eating off it in the next ten days. Still the okra, tomatoes, peppers and eggplant are producing.

I have been working on the new mold but still am having problems with it. Have 8 heads to try out and they are all hand crafted. will see how well they do. Will sure hate to lose one of them as they are like children of mine. But I will never know how they will work if I don't fish them.

Lately I have started posting here again. I feel the need to write and drop bits of knowledge. Lots of time to think and and have pour over records that I kept. Think that I have a good grip now of what works and what techniques at what time of year to use. Remember I am not fishing for sport I do this as part of my food source. This is part of my living off the land. Crazy maybe, but something that will be second nature if need be.

Keep watching for my bits of wit and wisdom. Take care!! Catch fish and have fun.

    Redman,

It is wonderful news to hear that both you and your wife are doing better as far as your health goes. It seems that when we are young we think we are bulletproof. By the time that we figure we are not, we already have holes in us. I always look forward to seeing your post as you seem to be free with the helpful hints that we all can use.

I just wanted to take a second and tell you thanks for passing on your knowledge and that is was good to hear that your wife and your health has turned for the best.

    Stay safe,

    Bobo
