    Default More Rabbits

I don't post that much on this forum, it seems like I'm always on the MS State forums. I'll try to be more active over here also. I saw where Snake River and Skip have been posting about using rabbit so I thought I'd show some of mine. Bob and Skip tie some beautiful jigs and to me, rabbit is the best tail material I've used. I normally tie some flash onto my hook shaft first. That also helps in hiding the rabbit leather. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378230142.403856.jpg

I'll cut a 1/2 inch strip from a Magnum Rabbit Strip and tie it onto the hook shaft.

I will then wrap my chenille.

This is one of my favorite combos. My home lake is Okatibbee Lake. It's a COE reservoir in east-central MS. This combo is called the "Okatibbee Special".

You have become good at this Scott! I am happy this has turned into something you enjoy. It's a cool thing for me to see you do well. I think your right about the rabbit and how well it is action wide and the closest thing to marabou their is. Marabou will get eaten up by the fish, but like on my Roadrunners my neighbor used only one for the entire first week we fished for crappie this year and his first week was awesome. If my memory serves me right he and his partners which a could days was with his dad and some with his wife which started with one with me. He never lots that first one and he and he partners caught something like 250 that week. I also know I was the only one that kept up with him as his dad didn't probably cover his half, LOL! Still it would probably would have still be going the next week if it had been rabbit, but I have a special color chart I use in marabou that I do not have in rabbit.

    Good job my friend!

Also keep posting here, we need more guys posting their tying so more get inspired. That is my main reason for posting pics now days.

Thanks Skip, I sell my jigs at local tackle shops so that I'll be able to tie more. It helps on material costs too. Lol. I recently came up with a menu of the 12 combos I sell at the stores so if they call, they can tell me they need a couple more cards of #1s. Name: ImageUploadedByTapatalk1378233295.844008.jpg

Good work Scott, glad your doing well! Always best to control cost of materials and the first thing is getting enough each time to help spread the shipping cost around.

I gave up selling to stores a few years back because I just couldn't keep up. I am probably going to put a small number in the tackle shop here to help his tackle out. He's just getting started since the bought the place. Its a Resort and marina that has been here since the lake opened.

My tying desk is a mess but I know where to look for stuff. Lol. My wife cleaned it up one time and I couldn't find anything.

Ha Ha, I order the Magnum Rabbit Strips from J. Stockard Fly Fishing. It's a wider strip of leather which gives you a little more "hare".
