Ok, so i've been thinking about making some of my own gear. I have an idea to make jig heads cheap for small jigs. But i don't know if it has been tried before.

Could using a small amount of candle wax(colored, white, clear, etc.) on the shank just before the eye of the hook be used as a simple jig head for small fish like bluegills and other small fish?

I just want some opinions on this to see if its do-able and effective if anyone tried this. Unscented candles are easy to come by and making different colors could be as easy as adding a few drops of food coloring to the wax if its not colored.

Thanks for any input on this.
