First jigs ever

I don't do but three or four revolutions with the whip finish tool. Then I pull the thread tight before I cut it. You don't see any thread. I put a small drop of head cement where I cut my thread. I've never had one come untied. Each revolution with the tool puts a half hitch knot on there so it's gonna stay. You're doing good Mac.

I use one or two wraps to trap it, then I use minimum of 4 whip finish wraps when using 140 denier and 5 wraps when using 210 denier thread. This is how I learned from fly tying info. Some use more or less, but most use this. Also this should never be showing and make all your whip finish wraps tight against the head.

Nice work mac,,they will git bit...The fish dont care about thread showing,but it does make a better looking jig if hidden.

It is addicting!! I just started tying jigs recently and my only problem is I need to live to be 194 years old to use them all.

I'm sure that jig will catch fish for you. Crappie aren't nearly as picky about a nice looking jig as we are!

Are you using a whip finish tool or trying to do it by hand? It's much easier to place the thread precisely with a tool. I always do two five turn whip finish knots. I use monofilament thread so it doesn't show, but it's slippery so I also hit it with head cement.
