I was wondering the same thing.
I just picked up some tubes today and they have a very light oily coating. That is what got me searching on preserving and storage.

They use to put the Anise in a lot of them since it also has the liquorice (sp) and keeps them lubed up.

I've been using a lot of Senate oil such as crawfish also garlic you can buy it from quite a few different mail-order catalogs.

I use a few drops of anise oil when I make my plastics and they last for years in ziplock bags.

I only fish on days of the week that end with
a "Y" ...and then, only if it's raining or not.
