Since the pan fish are bug eaters any of the trout terrestrial patterns will work well .

Bob they look fantastic do you fish for trout with them or just panfish I truly enjoyed to see something naturally tied on a jig. I think it is a hit with a lot of trying to resemble nymphs and other types of hatches.

I fish for pan fish only with the jigflies.
The down side is a school of hungry pan fish will destroy a jigfly in a mater of minutes. I try to keep the patterns as durable as possible and easy to tie.

if the school the panfish or taring up your jig fly up you are doing something right for sure when I was 16 back in the 60s I was using a marabou jig when they first started to sell in Portland Oregon they did not have any Chanel on them just a ball jig. In marabou I tore off most marabou just leave enough to wiggle in it was a killer. Which would be similar to your little jigs there that's why they are so attractive to panfish because they have a little tale that wiggles enough to attract her attention I never did like monstrous jigs to fish with and I still prefer small ones.

The article on tying patterns on jig hooks is too big to upload.

I start out large and down size until the fish tell me what they want to eat. It seems that the dinks nip the tail material off and the larger fish destroy the body material. Thank goodness the pan fish do not have teeth and only have a rough mouth. I always make up at the least six jigflys of a given pattern. This is in case the jig dies or I get bit off/broke off by a Northern or LM Bass. Of course there are my fishing buddies I have to supply if I have a hot jig. :-)
