    Default A Simple pattern

This is a real simple pattern that has produced well this summer and fall. The lure is so simple to tie I named it a KISS Bug. The bug is composed of a lead head with a painted or textured body. The lead body can be wrapped with a dubbing noodle, or yarn. The tail is composed of rubber tackle. I have found this summer the painted bodies work as well as the textured bodies; although this may change during the hard water season.
    I make the Bugs in 1/48 once # 12 hook, 1/32 once # 10 hook, 1/16 once # 8 hook and 1/8 once # 6 hook.
The bugs are very durable and show no ware after hours of use catching panfish.
    Pictured is the 1/8 once # 6 hook KISS Bugs.Name: IMG_2144.JPG

Like the black one but down here I would use Chartreuse colored rubber legs. Bet that those will take a bunch of big bull gills that you guys have up on those lake in Minnesota.

The KISS Bugs did well on the Gills and Crappies. The best crappie went 14 inches and the best Gill went just short of 11 inches. We caught a lot of gills in the 8 to 10 inch range and crappies in the10 to 12 inch range. I am amased how well this simple bug works.Name: IM002468.jpg

They look cool, nice work. What are you calling textured body? That is not all lead right? I am just not sure what the body is. I guess I am asking if you are just putting enough paint to cover over any of the dubbing or yarn that sticks out? They look smooth and I guess that is what is trowing me off some. I do understand dubbing noodle and yarn, just usually it's spiky?

    Thanks,

The heads in question are solid lead, painted and not textured

    If texxturing is desired:
The heads are painted and texture( for a better word) is added over the painted body.
I have enclosed some pictures of some earler models.

Oh okay I get it now, thanks for clearing my old brain up, LOL! I like the little buggers, but think I may use silicone for the tail as I have not always had good luck with rubber and seems to stick to some stuff. I have a bunch of them kind of lead heads I don't use to that looks like a good remedy for that!
