    Default Little help?

I;m looking for a thread and can't find it. First, pardon the girl terms! The thread was about tying jigs that look like the have a feather "necklace" around the head and included links to videos. I thought it was the hackle thread, but the pics and vids didn't look like the finished product. Playing around and want to try something new! Thank you.

Clarification: I found the thread...It showed a version of the Taylor Special salmon tie. But I can't find any video or pics on how to use the technique. Would appreciate any thoughts! Thanks!

Ok, I watched a couple of fly tying videos and faked it! Used strung rooster saddles and tiger barbed rabbit strips. How did I do? Would appreciate any links to the collared technique. Thanks everyone!Name: more jigs7 007.jpg

I think you tied a nice looking jig, well done. Here is one of my videos that may help you some.

Beautiful jig. When pulled through the water, it will displace nicely and appear larger than it really is. Like the colors a bunch. Nice selection
of hook too. The feathers will undulate nicely from the neck.

Thank you triple R. I am really just playing around and trying to get techniques down. This is so much fun!

I've also read that using red chenille or red thread at the base of the head will mimic wounded bait fish. True? I know it depends on the water and the time of year.

Looks good. I figure if not a wounded bait fish the red near the head will be like gills.
