I just barely heat the head so the powder goes on light and then run it back over the heat. This is where a heat gun helps. Using a fluid bed is a also very helpful.

Before you heat the head to be painted put it in white powder paint this will put a little film of paint on head.I kind of stir my paint one time, light heat count to 3 or 4 over the heat let cool dip head in a jar of water(makes the paint cool) let it dry for 8 hrs ready to fish or tye !!!!. hope this helps may be as clear as mud!!!!!

I haven't bought any but as Jackie said if you dip in the jar do it quickly or use a fluid bed for a very light coat. Another way would be to heat your jig and brush tap the powder on it. I REALLY hate white powder paint!!!!!!!! even with a fluid bed it seems to go on really thick, I've been useing more white pearl for my base coat then heat again and then brush tap a color over the top half for a two tone painted head.

With the eye socket and detail on that head I'd have to bet based on what I've read here and TU that the brush tap method seems the first choice, as you really control the amount of powder.

What do they look like, Doug?

You're Gon loose a lil detail no matter how you go about it but if you're doing a solid color, I don't think you can go wrong with the fluid bed, db.
    Multi color, tap.

As I said I've never bought any but the brush tap method will work on any style jig. When I get home tonight I'll post some of the brush tapped. The base coat I usually do with the fluid bed as I can do a whole bunch and put them on my curing rack then reheat for the brush taps.

As far as a PRO with this NOT!!!!!!! I'm still learning it, but liking it even more.
