No, i've caught lots of 5" crappie on a 3" jig. Thats what
i use most of the time and it doesn't deter them at all.
Sometimes they just want something smaller though, so You
may want to keep some smaller ones around just in case.

I finally got my jigheads in today so I could catch up on my tying. Well, I messed up and ordered the wrong hooks. Was trying to go small, but went with #2 instead of #6 with a 1/32 head. Tied one to see what it would look like, and only way I could get it to look right was to make it little bigger. As bad as I hate to admit it, the crappie in my usual haunts are small on average. 1 lb is a good un, but most range 8-10 inches. Think I'm gonna have problems with this large of a jig with the peanuts?

It really depends on the size of the shad they have
been feeding on.
It will still work, but remember a sickle hook is bigger at the gap than a regular bend hook so if someone likes a # 2 regular bend a # 4 sickle is the same size as far as gap. Also a # 6 is a good size for a 1/32 IMHO!
So I wouldn't throw them out or not use them because they will still work!
Should have no problems with them
those look fine DB I use #2s on my 1/32oz jigs and catch crappie as small as 3 " the only time I use #4s is in the winter and not much then
and I love the sickle hooks as they seem to hook all the crappie in the roof of the mouth as deep as between the eyes
you might shorten up your boo if you find the fish short strikeing them but other than that those will work fine
nice tie and nice jigs sir
Hey they look good man, i like em!
They will work fine. Just go give em a shot.just like cmj said depends more on bait fish size at the time. I have caugt the size you are talking about on 2/0 hooks with no problem. If they don't work for you just send em to meRofl

That's one good looking jig.Thumbs Up I hope they work for ya.
If you messed up, I have a lot of guy's all over the country that mess up. 1/32 X #2 is a popular size and I get lots of requests for it. Your jig looks good and you may be surprised how big of a hook a 10" crappie can fit in their mouth. Nice job!
