While I love my Nor, there is one thing that bothers me about it and that is how the head of the thing is attached to the post, which is just glue. I would have never thought that until I had a priblem with it coming off. I was able to repaire it or I could have sent it back to Norm and he would have fixed it, but I just uses the same kind of glue they did!

I do wish it was attached some other way, but maybe there is not a better way for some reason, but it does cross my mind a lot! I do still use it as my main vise because of my shoulder!

Try tying on as many vise's as you can. Everyone can give you opinions but YOU'RE going to be using it. If you don't have a local shop, find a TU chapter, bass club and see if you can try tying on a bunch of them.

If you can't be comfortable tying on a vise, you just aren't gonna keep with it or you'll be buying and selling to find the right one. Take your time and find the most comfortable one for you.

What Fatman said is spot on. I have had my hands on several and there are several good ones, but there's also many that look good til you start moving or adjusting or putting pressure on them. Peak, Renzetti, Apex, griffin, all make good vises. Plan on a hundred as a starting point, but don't buy because of the price. You're going to spend lots of time with this, make it time with a smile. A few extra bucks opens a few more doors.
