I think the flies look very good. Never have fished anything like those but if that's what the fish want I would say you have a winner! Thanks for posting them. I love to see the different tyes that our tyer's make.

I know they aren't jigs but hey, fly section doesn't get much attention so..... and they are lures
These are to replicate the rams horn snails we have tons of around here and that trout eat for some reason. Can't see how they pass the shells and don't want to know how that feels. Some snails I have seen them eat were a good 1/4 in across.
Thought a snail pattern that actually imitated a snail skimming the surface would work somewhere. I know trout and other fish eat them and I have seen snails do it so why not?
Should be a good early morning late evening fly around weeds and structure where snails may take their stroll along the water surface.
It is really and odd thing to see and if I didn't have large, quarter sized, snails in an aquariums and see it for myself I would have never believed it.
Rude and crude but should get something to take a bite.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Hey Fish4all,
I see you still messing around with the wraps. What is that wrap? I think those would kill some gills. Nice work and I always like seeing what you got hooked up!

Those are simple, tapered the body with upholstery thread, wrapped larva lace body material for the top left and bottom and body stuff for the right one. Then some peacock herl and a teardrop shape foam piece for the foot.
Not sure if a laced or crocheted pattern would be effective for a snail but never know. Would give a lot more segmentation so maybe.

I think all of us enjoying seeing flies as much as jigs tied. So I don't see any reason you shouldn't post this here. I like them!

That is a cool way to match your hatch. I like the segmented body and see no reason it wouldn't work for Crappie as well.

The fish like to look at it and swirl at it but no takers yet. Might be too cold of water yet but things are warming up. I think early morning right at first light and late night just before sunset would be a lot productive to get takes than mid day. Will find out as soon as I can hit the water at the right times.

Looks real good, i like them. Especally how half of it sticks underwater
