Through a trade with Fatman, I received some pony heads to do for the first time. The foil over the swivels worked great and they painted up nicely. I tried a bit of brush tapping on some, came out pretty good. These are a few of what I have finished, and I desperately need to buy a pair of split ring pliers. Those dudes are little!!. The bucktail is one of an order I have had on the bench for a while, it's a 3/4oz. I can only tie about 6 or 8 of those and I have to change to something else for a while. The white Roadrunner is on it's 3rd life, the previous two tails that it had got rotten or stained and got the razor and a new tail. This one is a combination of a little bucktail first, then some maribou over that in an effort to make it look a little bigger once it gets wet. I don't post much of what I do, Y'all have seen most of what I would show. These were a little different and thought you might like to see em. Thanks for looking, tight lines.......Skeet.

GO BIG ORANGE !
I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Skeet - Nice ties buddy!!!!!!! Glad you liked em!!!!!! Gave you an assortment of blades to show how others work with them. When I tie them I always have them swivel up that way I can manuver the whip finisher around it.
Nice color combo's hope they catch you a bunch!!!!!!!!!! and thanks again for the trade. For split ring pliers I always used the cheap Worth's and they lasted for years but my last pair finally wore out and I bought a pair of the Texas Tackle small split ring pliers - took some getting used to but I'm really liking them. If I didn't have 1000+ split rings I might have got some jump rings.
Fatman
Thanks for the good words Fatman. I painted them in the four colors shown and flame red also. Gonna do those in Skips Christmas jig colors. I'm painfully slow with them but the results are good enough for me. I'll look up the pliers you mentioned, gotta be batter than faking it with my regular needle nose. I'll show pics when I get to use em. Thanks again......Skeet.

They looks good Skeetbum! Hey just put one of them with the marabou tail down in the water just a little so you can watch it. Move it just a little and maybe even try to hold it still and just watch the swimming motion you get with that stuff.
what size willow blade do you have on that purple head one? It sure looks big. I have a lot of different size blades I use on them, but usually not over a #1 on 1/32, but I do have some larger for my 1/8 Oz ones.
You should catch a lot of fish on them, nice job,

Those look awesome.![]()
Skip, I don't know what size the blade is but it is a bit big. The blades were included in the trade and I grabbed it to make it look a bit different. They will probably be trolled so I'm hoping they will track OK no matter what the size of blade. Thanks for the good words. Thanks Gabowman.

That's actually not a willow leaf blade - it's a swing blade like those used on Rooster Tails and it's a size 1. The blade above it is an old Weller blade and they really thump on the horsehead jigs.
Looks good.
I tyed some black and gray maribou to a Roadrunner head not long ago to imitate a shad. Haven't tried it yet, maybe this weekend if I can stop shooting docks...lol

Nice work! There's one thing I've learned after years of tying these things....if a man had never cussed in his whole life....a little time with putting blades and split rings on will make stuff come out of your mouth that will make a sailor blush.
