    Default Herter's fly tying trunk

These are pictures of a Fly tying trunk that my dad got from herters back in the early 60's. Most of the liquids are dried up. But several of the bottles still have labels. Is this worth any thing?

Probably worth something to someone that collects . I personally would be keeping it around if it were my dad's...

    good luck with your decision..

Your trunk may be worth more than you think-my wife is in the antique business and is always amazed at the the things that are collectable. some items such as old lures, rods.reels etc. are high dollar stuff. Your trunk might be very unique and highly sought after by folks that are collectors. Good luck with your decision as what to do with it!

That is a very unique piece that I would not be surprized that would have great interest to a collector. I would do a little research before I sold it cheap.

Brought back more than a few memories. Spent most of my money on tying stuff that I got from them as they were about all there was back then. Waseca ,Mn. Was about 100 miles from where I lived and it took a week to get a order that far. And we think the mail is slow today!!!!! Our Family made a trip up there back in the mid 1960's. I about went nuts I was in hog heaven. I bought alot of material that trip my dad bought a bunch of deck skids Three of which are in my boat today. Fun Family trip. Was the longest trip I ever took was anxious to get there and see the place and then anxious to get home wanting to tie up a bunch of jig.

Never seen one, and I look at lots of antiques and collectables with the wife. I bet it would bring a good dollar, but I'd have to keep it if it was Dad's.

Herters! That sure takes a guy back a long ways!

Back then it sure seemed like if they didn't have it you couldn't get it.

Hard to say if that is worth anything, but an appraiser who specializes in that sort of thing would be the person to tell you and it might cost a bit to have the appraisal done. With Herters it was hard to know who made all the stuff for them, so much of their stuff was private label. Part of the value will be how complete the set is and what shape the whole is in, especially the case.

You got an Antiques Roadshow coming through your area?
