Temp For Hot Pink

I preheat my jig heads over an alcohol lamp but seem to have a little trouble with Hot Pink. I either get it where it won't gloss over or the lead head won't hardly pick up any paint. Using fluid bed, it just seems that for that color the heads need to be a lot hotter. I can get it to work I just have to work with it.

Just adjust how long you keep in in the heat. I don't even notice the differences any more, but several to me take a little extra in the flame for me.

Yes have had that problem with a few of the colors of powder that I have gotten. Watermelon seems to give me the most problem and I just keep it in a extra count and then it will take ever time. I count to two on each side of a jig when I paint over a alcohol lamp that is my rule of thumb unless I a using one of those colors that needs more and then it's a 5 count.The last count I turn the jig on its nose to take the heat. BTW I use a pair of curved needle nose pliers from Harbor Freight and hold the jig by the eye that way there is little or no clean up of the eye.

The pink I have on hand needs a little extra heat for good coverage of the jighead. A greater problem is it will darken up if the cure temp and time is exceeded.

A little off your question, but I've found that if you want a really hot and vibrant pink, go with reg pink and then while head is still hot, coat with the transparent pink. It outshines any pink I've found.

Hottest pink I have found has come from Crazy Angler. As good as any I have used. Might check with Rat Tex for he is the powder paint mix master.
