    Default Chenille Wrapping

I've been using different kinds of chenille on jigs and I like the variety I can get.

What I do is: run a length of it on the hook shank towards the hook--wrap it tight--then at the bottom start to wrap it over the hook towards the head. Should I use cement under the chenille as I wrap it?

My main problem is when I get to the jighead, I wrap it several times around the loose end. I can see the thread then and it looks kind of crappy...not that the fish will care, but I do.

Any tips from you guys would be very appreciated or if there's a good video out there that shows the wrap process--even better!

    Thanks!

Look at my slide show in the sticky at the top. No don't glue under it as you wrap. Wrap it close enough and all the way to the head so you can't see the thread. When you whip finish the thread is not visible at all! Look at the jig in my sig, no thread seen. There are probably a lot of thing that will help if you read the sticky post on top of the page. That is what they are for.

Be sure to study that sticky that Skip made. Go to his site and study the jig pictures. He ties a well proportion jig. There are a few patterns that I like a longer body but if you follow that sticky and duplicate his jigs you will be in good shape.

X2. You want your product to be neat. Read all the stickies and look at as many tying videos as you can.

My jigs became a lot cleaner looking when I realized that the thread has to hold the chenille for a few turns, and then it's job is done. I then make the thread ride the head into the crease while I whip finish, the results are similar to Skips. Do the education stated above and you'll do fine.
