Can any one tell me what to use to thin out Sally Hanson's.Have several bottles that are really thick.Hate to throw them away.thanks muchTony Pounders
I don't know, but in place of buying bottle after bottle of Sally's, (you only need one straight to use as a clear coat) buy a pt. or what ever size of High Gloss Clear Lacquer and some thinner ( I Use MEK) and mix it 50/50 or so to put one drop where you finish.
Skip
Acetone but don't thin to much as it will start to smear the paint if it is to thin. You can buy Acetone in small bottles in the heath and beauty aid dept. at Wally World. cost about a buck.
Redman
the same is redman I use acetone be careful little bit goes a long ways.

fingernail polish remover, which is acetone
Just don't tell your wife or let her catch you sneaking it LOL
Been just using high gloss lacquer and lacquer thinner on my finish and straight lacquer on my head clear coat. So far, so good. Use lacquer thinner.
Looked at MEK in comparison to acetone (lacquer thinner) and just doesn't seem better, cost wise, to justify it's use. They're pretty close health wise when used how we do, but MEK affects central nervous system. Otherwise, Acetone is more flammable. MEK is the better cutting solvent, but nearly unnoticeable in the quantity I or any other jig tier will ever use. MEK stinks worse, ha. Either way, use gloves and proper ventilation.
But def buy the lacquer and one of the thinners, it'll save you a bunch of money, IMO.
