UV and Regular Light

Okay have had a lot of questions about why I take some pictures using a black light so thought I would show what got me started doing this even though mostly lately I have been showing the Flo colors under a black light let me show a simple jig head that I coated with UV after I had it painted and cured. I can do it at the same time too, but this one was one I painted it on after the fact. One other little thing got me to try it like this was when I put the UV on during the painting the only color that really changed in regular light was silver so I wanted to try the paint on after and it worked better for silver.

COOL! so I take it the UV paint looks clear in regular light....? Is it a liquid paint or powder coating?

Actually I have both kinds. This one was painted on after it was powder painted and cured, but I have a lot that I have done at the same time I paint them.

Skip, how about a silver head w/o UV under the black light for a comparison?

It would look just like the one with regular light except almost black because there is not enough light to see the color well. Most regular colors when using the black like just don't show up well. I can show you with an order I sent out to someone. You will see all the jigs with no Fluorescent some ors just don't show color at all. I feel pretty sure some of these are silver. See Below.

Hey Skip,
It's selling me, that UV is for real. With this past summer and waterholes drying up I've seen a lot of turtles relocating themselves. Some interesting studies have been written on this, and turtles take a straight line to the next waterhole. Researchers were amazed with this, how could a turtle know where water was to take this straight line, they are at ground level and not elevated. It turns out the UV reflection of the sun off of the water is a beacon for them to follow. Kinda like at night when searchlights are turned on for us. My son used some of it on his duck decoys and is pretty amazed with it, claims birds that were to far away before turn right on in. I know the fluoro paints out-produce the plain, I'm building more witnesses to the flock daily. If nothing else it produces a far better contrast of colors that stimulates fish, at least for me, and I preach it. I think the blacklight pictures should get a guy thinking, after all it's one affordable aspect of fishing that should please everyone. Thanks for your time and post.

crappiedoc I am glad to see more people listening to what I have learned reading the last few years and taking so many photos I learned how to take clear pics under a black light so welcome to the belief of UV and Flo does make a difference. I didn't realize this for a while bet even one of my best jigs is SIlver/Blue/White and of course the white lights up big time and that was the key. I also believe side Blue can penetrate the water farther that other regular colors that makes a difference. I have started using more Fl Blue, but still love 2 others that are not Flo. I am going to post another pic here of some jig heads I painted and added UV to them right after dipping in the color so you can see lots of colors still keep their color, but black and silver and a few others just turn blue under a black light so not sure what the fish see, but at least I know they see these better.

Some still think I am just BSing them, but I am not and sure of it.

Notice the UV stuff did change the Silver to a dark Gray, but they claim out of light it's still silver, but not sure I believe that so over silver you have to use a different product and paint it on.
