Wow! Beautiful jigs! Congratulations.
What is the purpose of using the blacklight, if I can ask? Is it supposed to simulate something?
-
Thank you!
Well it just shows the Fluorescence colors and also will show UV colors if any were used, but on these there was no UV. If I had used UV on the heads of the jigs for example they would be glowing even colors that are not fluorescent. Both Fluorescent and UV colors will glow under black light which is really the only way we as humans can see them since we don't have the ability to see UV. However some fish can see UV colors and also will see fluorescent colors different than we do. They have more rods and cones in their eyes than we do so see many more shades of colors and as I already said they can see UV. Last thing is in crystal clear water regular colors don't penetrate all that far and Blue and Violet go the most at something like 40 feet with other colors falling out before that. Some like red can't be seen all that far at all, can't remember without looking it up, but only something like 10 to 12 feet or less. UV colors can be seen up to 700 feet so it's a matter of just being visible farther to the fish. Now this doesn't mean just because they can see it that theory will hit it, but at least they can see them from farther if they want to hit it they can.
So sometimes I like to just show jigs using these kind of colors with the use of a black light so us humans can see there is a difference.

Very cool Skip! I just sent Crazy an order so I should have some new colors soon...although not nearly as cool as yours.

Thanks Gator Bait. Some of my favorite colors are solid and not even Flo, like Silver/Blue/White is a big favorite of mine. I also like the silver chenille which is not Flo either. I can make any color head a UV color though as they make powder that you can put over them.

Skip, thank-you for your great, detailed explanation to my question. Thumbs Up

Skip, I like the first one the best, but their all sharp under the light. Its helpful to learn about the effects of UV.
