    Default Purpose of chenille

Guys I'm totally new to tying and have a question about chenille. Most of the flys at the local tackle shops don't have chenille. Why is this? What is the main purpose for the chenille?
Thanks for your help and advice.

In fly tying most of the flies using chenille would be wooly buggers, san Juan worms and some others. Most flies use dubbing which is spun onto your thread. Chenille in jigs is for making the body. Some of the really fine chenille you could use in fly tying if you wanted.

    Hope this helps
