That woud be the Head Cement b/c it is on back order, is there anything that I can use that they would carry at walmart that will not leave a white residue on the jig or do you even have to use head cement! if anyone could let me know I would greatly app. it! Thanks to everyone who has helped me so far into my Journey of learning how to tie Jigs~!!

Get some Sally Hanson's hard as nails it will work fine. I use little to no cement on most of my jigs.
any color is fine as long its black and chartruse

I'll try to fill in til Skip shows. Nail polish is lacquer, and has been used as cement in flies and jigs for a long time. In the fly tying area at most shops you will find a needle tip applicator bottle with a wire looking plug that goes into it and keeps it clear. Buy one of those bottles, a bottle of Sally Hanson's hard as nails in the nail polish area of wally world, and the smallest container of lacquer thinner that you can find. Pour about 1/3 of the applicator bottle with Sally, and another third of thinner, and stir with a toothpick. What's in that bottle will last an eternity. Insert the tip into the threads and squeeze gently til a small drop comes out and it will sink in deep into the threads before drying. Lots is not needed, so don't get carried away. I begin with a small drop on the shank and finish with some on my threads and they don't come apart. There you have it from my point of view.

Have to agree with Skeetbum, left the other head cements long ago. Remember that acetone is the thing to thin down the Sally Hanson clear hard as nails. If you have small children then keep it all out of reach. I have used a bodkin to apply mine. That is a long needle stuck in a handle.I made mine you can get one at Bass pro shops for a few bucks. There are even some bottles that have one in them that I have seen for sale at different material suppliers. Both methods work well heck I even have just used the brush that come in the bottle when I was in a rush and clear coated the whole head. If it is working for you keep using it and if it a broke don't fix it.

They are right and if you can't mix 50% High Gloss Lacquer and 50% Thinner ( I use MEK) then how can you do any job, it's so each you don't even need to measure. Just take a small jar and fill it half way or close and then fill the rest of the way with the other. I usually start with he Lacquer and then add the thinner and it's not or doesn't need to be perfect. Just like I told you in the email, buy lacquer and buy thinner and mix. No one is going to drink this to see if it taste good so mix it and get over your fear of messing up. How can you mess up that?
