hilts used to be larger but i am not sure about the new ones.
a chisel and a hammer works good just go slow so mold still closes tight.
you do not want to move to much metal a little bit on each side makes a big difference.

Does anyone know of a mold that has a bigger barb than the standard Do-it mold barb?

Thanks, I called them and the lady said when they bought out the owner he already had so many round head molds made they havnt had to make any. Also she said they havnt changed any of the tooling they bought from the owner. I went ahead and ordered a couple to see. I was going to buy some anyway so maybe they are still bigger?

Their pro model molds are a little larger than the standard molds. Just a light touch on each side with a dremmel tool works wonders.
just alittle touch....you can always take more off. But cant put it back on so go slow..Almost all of my molds have been modified...
I have a mold that's for the saltwater, or bigger plastics and the collar isn't tapered and the barb a bit stronger. Might be what you need, or maybe not enough yet. I'll see if I can get a number off the mold and post it later.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Put the barb in a vise and squeeze the vise closed – the barb will be slightly thinner, have a bigger profile, and still be able to hold a bait.
Use a “cheater bar” and a mark on the vise and you can repeat it. Try this on a minnow body jig and you have a flatter minnow/shad shape for your tye.

Great Idea!!!!!!
If you're trying to keep a jig body on longer, a SMALL drop of super glue on the bard will keep a jig body in place for a long time. I use mostly solid body tubes from WW and the glue keeps them on the jig all day long. Unless the fish are hitting short. Then they'll pull most of the tails off.
