For the prices that you will pay go buy the mold, hooks and ladle now and you will save yourself some money. Once you have the mold and ladle, the hooks and the lead can be had on the cheap. It might cost you around $60 for everything than you can pore as many different sizes and amounts that you want.

I pour orders of 1000 or more all the time. Yeah its time consuming but I got alot of free time on my hands lol...
Every year I pour a 1000. Don't bother to try freeing snags. Fish only 2 and 4 lb test line. Fishing 200+ days every year. I can go through a lot of jigs. Back when I use to fish the local crappie tourneys I would go through more than a 1000 in about 4 months. In the long run you'll save more money doing it yourself than buying from retailers.
I fish almost daily and when fishing stakebeds I seldom lose a jig. Sometimes need to change out the tubes. Even fishing brushpiles the 1/8 on 8 lb test can be shaken loose most of the time if you don't set the hook hard. I have fished sometimes 2 or 3 mornings with the same leadhead. I bought 400 (bulk rate was 7.00 per 100 ) last year and still using part of the 200 a buddy molded several years ago. Even on a windy day I seldom loose more than 3 or 4 leadheads in brushpiles. Unless you are selling or really loose alot the investment would be costly if you figure in hooks, lead , mold, tools, entergy to heat lead. Some people just like to do it and I perfer to spend my time fishing.:D Not try'n to discourage anyone just stating it is not economical for myself.Thumbs Up

I'll agree with you Nimrod. With that pound test I would be able to get most if not all my jigs back. But the lakes I fish you can see down to 20 feet sometimes during the summer and the line that you use would be like rope. The crappie like to hide under the rocks and shoot out and grab the bait and head right back to the rocks. Plus they are very line and lure shy.
I also don't want to force anyone to do it a certan way, just letting the first poster know some options. Catch some for me, right now it's 28 degrees with tonights low in the teens with wind chills in the single digets.
I get mine for between 3 and 4 dollars per 100, but you gotta buy a lot to get it cheaper and free shipping. the quality is not great, but they work for me. I bought some from pbug that were a little more expensive, but his quality was great and his price was still very good.
