Remember about a year ago or so I told you guys the saddle hackle (not the strung short stuff) was going to get hard to find, well it's near impossible now to find any full saddles. I see a few saddle patches left around, but full saddles are gone to the fashion industry and it will be until they are over and done with them before any of us will see them on the market again.
Glad I got a good many, because your not getting any now.

Skip check with our hackle friend. And yeah even he's getting attacked for the ladies wanting to buy his feathers but he's not gonna.
I need to place an order from Denny here soon... Him tellin those folks to stick it is reason enough for me to throw him some cash. Need to get a good grizzly JV hen to tie some soft hackles with.
we got alot of saddle hackle to choose from. Alot of chicken fighters around...My buddy gets alot of different feathers and dyes them...Some neat looking things for sure
You can always make do with lesser and come close to equivalent......
Most people don't drive Mercedes.

Lets hope that one day that those rich ladies will think its very fashionible to wear crappie jigs on a dress. Then maybe we can all make some major cash. Drive up the price of crappie jigs to 5 times the price of gasoline. But that won't make the crappie fisherman happy. Us jig tiers will be in hog heaven.

lol cmon redman, make us something lol and and we all will add to it..
Yes you can also use capes, but not as many flies exactly the same shade as the long feathers are nice for that. I just bought 6 from Denny (Cream, Red Dun, Silver Badger, Variant, Furnace, Chocolate dun) and he has sold some to the lady, but Denny doesn't really have any or hardly and grade #1 saddles and he says it takes a lot more feeding and time to get them long like that. I got some grade #2 this time and before have mostly got capes or full skins.
The lady and others in the fashion industry want the really long ones and I am so glade I got a good many before all this happened. You can still get some nice ones in black, olive and brown that are for woolly buggers and some that Hareline have their own name on in black. All the color stuff, even cream, dun, etc are gone and probably will not be back until the fashion industry is done with this. Maybe is 3-4 years???
So I would say if you want any at all that are full saddles you better get them now as they are going fast. I wanted to pick up a dun, cream, ginger, but I waited too long for the Pro Style. I do have enough ginger, but wanted one more long one. Also wanted a a couple more, but I waited just a little too long, but have to admit I am way ahead of most and have almost all I want.
I am very happy that I got this 6 from Denny and I know there are no better hackle feathers out there than these and all old style size 10-14. It's a good feeling.
I guess that is the one saving thing in this is Denny doesn't do many grade #1 saddles and that is what these fashion people want. They have bought up all of them in this country as money to them is not a problem.

Really this doesn't compare to cars and I am guessing you don't use dry fly hackle in your tying? You cans still get the short feathers in capes. Some fly fishermen want to tie say 10 flies exactly the same shade of color and that is done with long saddle hackle. Not all hackle are the same and jig tying has really nothing to do what what I am talking about even though I do some bream jigs using dry fly hackle.
Has nothing to do with what length though and nothing to do with Chinese saddles either or the strung saddle hackle that is 6" lone. I really don't believe you undrestand the problem for some tyers.
