No they really shouldn't be leaking like that, and Ponds right lead might be too hot. When you put a regular aberdeen jig hook in the slot is it snug in the hook groove or does it move around??? If you've got a bunch of movement someone might have enlarged it for heavier wire hooks.

Eagle claw 570 or 575 or Mustad 32755 or 32756, VMC 9147 are Aberdeen or light wire Jig hooks. I thought maybe someone enlarged the hook slot to allow heavier wire O'Shaughnessy hooks

that makes sense. the halves of the sprue are differant, it almost looks like somone put together two differant mold halves together

I got an idea earlyer and was wandering what you guys thought. What if i welded over the slots for the hooks and re-cut them myself?

I wouldn't go to that trouble . just use a little red High temp silicone. in the slot on one half lay the hook in it let it dry . Pull the hook trim any excess . Do the same to the other half. No sweat do things like that all the time and it won't do further damage to the mold .

I haven't had a problem with the high temp red. The lead starts to cool the second you pour and as it travels into the mold. By the time it reaches the hook slot the silicone can withstand it. It will stay a long time in a mold . If you need to get it out for some reason loosen it with gasoline brass brush.
