    Question double wrapping chenille

    Hello,

I am still experiencing, and was wondering how you all double wrap the chenille. I have tried tying it in, wrapping to the head, tye it in, then rewrap and whip finish. Is this the proper way, or is there another way?

    Thanks
    Heath

I'm not a great jig tier (only a doz or so under my belt), but I am a proficient fly tyer. On a collard jig, tie in just behind the collar. Wrap to the hook bend, then double back and wrap over your original wraps of chenille and the hook collar, all the way to the head. This gives a nice, smooth wrap even with the collar.

On ball heads you tie it the same way as fishinbub said, just start behind the head.

I do it the same as fishinbub, although I do make one wrap of thread around the chenille at the bottom before wrapping back up. The other way is to buy larger chenille, which can give you the same bulk with less material.

I do it just like I do a single wrap, but do it 2 times before I finish.

Skip, can you elaborate on your method. I have watched several you tube vids, and see where they tie in by the shank, then wrap towards the head, the majority show tieing it in behind the head but then tie towards the hook, then wrap( single wrap, back towards the head) and finish.

Tie in just behind the head. Wrap towards the shank, wrap back to the head, and secure as normal.

Man I need to finish my jig tying videos lol.
