i got my blades, hooks, & solder on order for jannsnetcraft, i went with gold hooks but i noticed the nickel hooks are much cheaper any probs with nickel?? I couldnt find anywhere else to order from.

I just ordered nickel blades as well. How come only one person said to scratch the nickel finish? Is that something neccessary that everybody does or only him?

You need to scratch the surface of the blade so the solder will adhear to it.

What about flux. I read about that as well. Is scratching the surface an equivalent to using flux or do you have to do both?

Well Im not soldering jigs, but I am using solder. Here are some of my home made jigs. I made these at work in my spare time:

In the vise:


In my 'portable drying rack':


And now with color paint. A final coat to seal them up, and its off to the stream/ice I go. Trout and panfish seem to love them:


Ignore the mess in my truck. I did these when I was working 12-18 hrs a day, 7 days a week.

They are made with wet fly hooks, lead wire wrapped around the hook, white paint as a base, and color paint. A top coat of clear polish to seal everything in. Some were painted with paint, and some were painted with nail polish (or as I like to call it, MALE polish). Hahaha.
