Looks like a BPS starter kit vice. Go here and add it up what it would cost to buy all that. It's cost a lot more than you think.>>>click here>>> Fly Fishing Fly Tying

Still guys since he wants $200, that's a lot for what he's got.

I wouldn't compare BPS prices to this for good price as I don't think BPS prices are all that great! Just like that bobbin, I don't know if that is the $2.25 version or the $3.50 version??

If you want to compare I would do it here...

Just look up the materials and tools. I do agree with skeetbum about the barred hackle as one of the better pieces, but do you really need that for jig? I think not especially starting out.

Look up thread, calf tail/kip tails, and all the other things here. Also the chenille and probably the cards are not full still? They were only 5 yards when new and when were they new? Are they crushed as chenille will crush all by it self and need help after being on a card for a while.

I do think you could use most of what is there, but I think for $200 it may be high?

I agree with Skip. For $200 you can order what you need and what you want to tie with. For someone that is selling out he can't expect to get back the amount he spent buying it and I would say if you ordered everything he has you would spend the $200. But, he has used some of the materials so you are buying what he has left and the tools are used!

The vise is a Thompson Model A or knockoff, as Skip said how long has the stuff been sitting??? Some of the stuff you can use for tying jigs but you're gonna be stuck with the hooks unless you want to use them to tie flies. The bobbin, is it ceremic??? or an old metal one that could cut the thread. As others said he want's too much, he's looking for what he paid.

Go through Crazy Angler, get a bunch new chenille, thread colors to match, marabou if you want it, and the AA starter vise, a few good ceramic bobbins, some strung hackle for tailing and I'd bet you'd get away with about a $125 way cheaper than what the guy wants for the older stuff.

Would still give you lots of money to buy any plastics or jigs if you don't pour your own.

i agree with fatman. you can get much more for the same price and you can get everything that you need instead of things you wont use. but as for the crushed chenille, you can run is over a little bit of steam and it will puff right back up.

$200 is way off the mark. Seems like he's wanting back every dime he put out. The vise is basic, and the materials are OK but not all of it is in line with the direction you seem to want to go. If he doesn't come down below half of his asking price, wish him a good day and move on.

Thanks for all the input guys. I replied saying I would offer $50. I said with no disrepect, just dont see that value there. He replied, Thanks hope I find what im looking for. I knew the price was high, just wasnt exactly sure how high. I will just keep shopping around. I have a Cheap vise, and pour my own jigs. I was just wanting to start tying more since I joined this site. Yall have peaked my interest on tying more jigs.
    Thanks for everything.
