    Default Epoxy Dryer

I needed something to dry the epoxy on my spoons, jig heads, and poppers. I couldn't bring myself to spend $70 or so for a dryer so I made my own. I found a 15 rpm synchronous motor my father-in-law had lying around and put it to use. 2 L-brackets and a couple of pieces of 2x4 for the base. The shaft is a 1/4" nylon sleeve that I drilled and tapped. The holder is an old cd with two pieces of 6mm foam glued to the face. I then cut slits in the foam to hold the hooks. I used a 1/4" beveled faucet washer, epoxied to the cd, and a screw to mount it to the sleeve. The cup is for drying rods. The cup is the top of a bottle of clothes washing detergent and the insert is a peice of pool noddle. It holds the rod quite securely. It works pretty well for a machine made from parts just lying around the house. :D

Space heater wouldn't work. You have to keep the pieces moving to get the epoxy to dry evenly. Besides I'm in south Louisiana, a space heater would be pretty miserable during most of the year.

Nice! I have a rod winding motor and I need to make one of those. However, I am drying the threads on large saltwater jigs. I bought a piece of stiff foam at a hobby store and that was good for smaller stuff, but not for the larger jigs. I am going to a round plywod disc to hold the jigs.

Very inventive Jimbeaux. This is one I put together using a grill rotisserie motor, alligator clips and a tupperware bowl!

Thanks Len I like yours as well. I had though of the rotisserie motor but mine died. The synchronous motor is smaller and quieter.
Hunter those are #2 Aberdeen hooks.

I did about the same thing, but my motor I think is not as blazing fast as yours, LOL! Nice and maybe I can improve mine too with some of your ideas.
