Do you guys use Schalppen Feathers? If so how do you use them in your jigs.

I believe that it is another name for the ducks rump feathers. Yes Pbug I try to lead a sheltered life. Trying as hard as I can. Seems that I lead more of a charmed life than anything. To Len no I don't use them. In fact the Mallard bared flank is about the only thing I use in duck feathers anymore.
Happy New Year All

You learn something new every day. Len that last link was a good read. Lookes like the use is for a extra long hackle wrap. I could think of uses on some of the patterns I tie.

I use it mainly for big streamer patterns .But to big for jigs.
Yes they are very long and a bit heavier than neck hackle we use. I have a good bit, but never find many spots I need them. I have been giving them some thought for about 2-3 years now, LOL! Sometimes I am just slow or too busy to get back to some things.

I have used them as a collar, or a hackle for a large hook. They can be used as a tail feather, but you have to be using at least a 1/0 or larger to keep from wasting most of the feather.
