FINALLY decided to bake my jigs

Don Don you can wrap up that picture and send it to me. I could sure use all those pretty jig heads with my plastic baits that way you could have more practice on paining in cooking in your toaster oven.

Don.....you definately need to buy some plastics from Snake.....he has got some of the best ones around. The new 1 1/2 in. Shad Stinger is going to be a killer.

Bob, you got some nice looking stuff on there for sure. I'll check it out more next time I need to pick up something. Same thing Scott, I saw some of yours at the camp and they look awesome man. BTW, I use the regular oven and I learnt me a lesson, put a drip pan under them. LOL Got a few Chartreuse spots in the bottom now Thank goodness wifey ain't seent them YET

I have been using the reg oven but I found a toaster oven at Fred's for $25 and got one. Works great with the pan under the rack to catch droppings. I use 350 @ 20 minutes also.
Hope the wife doesn't see the chart drops DonDon!!!!:D

Nice jigs, I use a toaster oven and open it and pull the rack most of the way out. The jigs are usually cool to the touch after a few minutes.

Warning, making your own jigs is very addictive. You start off making those you have to have for the next couple of fishing trips, then you start stockpiling them to have enough to last thru prime fishing season.

Then you start adding extra colors, different style hooks, and of course buying a few more molds as you think of a few more sizes you would like to have. This hobby can be very expensive but it's worth it when you feel the thump on the end of your line and you pull up a nice one on a jig you made yourself.

Snake I usually bake at 325 to 350 for about 20 min too. I like mine to be really chip resistant. Then I use drill bits and paint to do the eyes. Glad you liked the material I sent you.

325-350 for about 20 minutes too. Very chip resistant.....except DON'T use a candle to heat your jig heads. The soot from the candle can cause the paint to FALL off. I've got 50+ jig heads that are very ugly, because half the paint has come off just sitting in the box.

Agri, I when I first started painting jigs with powder paint, I was using a cig lighter and they had soot all over them. I'm using the gas stove at my house now and don;t have that problem any more. Also don;t have to deal with a hot lighter anymore. OUCH
