Circle jig hooks

i seen these in barlows any one try them out? any input?

I've seen jigs made with them but on a jig head if you were to tie them it looks like your tied materials would get in the way, just my opinion from looking at them. I've not fished with any. Some web sites I've looked at they're charging $5.95 for 5 untied jigs, pretty steep. Also, I don't know how they'd fit into molds.

I believe for jigs that the traditional way works better for panfish. Nice "you tube" video though PBug. You just have to put your face in front of the camera.

Those jig hooks are made for certain salt water reef fish (e.g. snapper, grouper, etc). If my recollection is correct (a big IF), you need circle hooks to fish certain reefs in Florida. The hook prevents a fish from becoming gut hooked and allows release of fish that otherwise might be harmed by a conventional hook. I hope this helps.

Like Pete said, circle hooks are for preventing gut hooking, which isn't much of a problem for me when using artificial jigs for panfish, even if I tip the jig with something for scent.

Circle hooks depend on a specific geometry to hook fish in the corner of the mouth. A 90 degree bend on a jig hook would change the geometry radically, and I wouldn't suggest spending much on such jigheads unless (1) there is a need, because fish are swallowing your jigheads now, and (2) there is more information on their effectiveness.

I do like circle hooks for a minnow though as if I don't see the fish on in time it is easier to get out. Don't think I would use them in jigs though.

i like usin them when goin for catfish.put a piece of powerbait or hotdog on it under a float,and its good to go.got sick of gut hooking the bullheads at this one wma,where they were biting really good.they even hit artificials and surface plugs without any scent.them bullheads are fun little dudes to catch after dark lol

I owuld like to see more information on them and their effectiveness. I think for trolling they would work awesome for an instant hook set and reduce missed fish. I recenty started using them on spinners and I was shocked at how effective they are. I also think that if a fish hits the jig on the fall that it is likely to turn right into the corner of their mouth and stay there until you can set the hook.
