If I may... Some of the legs might be a bit long. If you miss too many hookups, consider trimming them down a bit. I had the problem.

I use the skirts that fall off of my spinner baits all the time. The rubber bands that hold em on these days just dont last. The Louisiana off topic forum has a few jigs that I tied with leftover skirts. I tie lots of poppers using skirts too. Look up a pattern called "hot lips" for a fun and aerodynamic popper variation. Here is a saltwater variant: Hot Lips Fly - Fly Angler's OnLine "Fly Fishing the Salt - 25" The craft foam at Hobby Lobby is perfect for these flies and can make a great pencil popper when layered.

Didn't have much trouble with the legs they sucked them right up. had to use the forceps quite a bit to get them out. Next trip I'll make some with shorter legs, see if there's a difference. Is the foam at the Hobby Lobby the same as what you get at Bass Pro, and is it cheaper?

I found no difference in the foam, and a fly tying friend said that it was the same also. It comes in different thicknesses sotake a piece with you or know what you want before you go. They had some flouro colors last time I was there. As to your rotation problem, what about a base of thread coated with Sally before you apply the foam? That might give enough traction to have em hold still.

Yep that's what I'm doing, should of done it in the first place but I was in a hurry. Have to make some for my buddies now since I bragged about them. I'll check out the foam, nice to get some thicker pieces with out gluing them together.
