    Default Lead & Pot question

I cleaned my lead pot back to newish condition. Loaded it half way with bright silvery ingots at a #7 setting. I added a small bit of wax and flux the set-up. Played around with making a few lead heads. After about 1/2 hour, I noticed some crud floating on top. What is it and how can I avoid getting this? I was wondering if the setting was to high or to low. Any suggestions?

If it bothers you, just scoop it with a teaspoon and it should get gone after a couple more times.

What other have said ... Ditto ... Seems that the crud keeps on being made ... I like a full pot and when it gets down about a 3rd I start adding some more ... you get a better "Head" pressure which = a better pour ..

ya lead will have trash in it regardless of how much u flux it just give it 20mins and I can almost promise there will be trash on the top I've heard about people using bees wax but I found it makes more of a mess than canning wax aka gulf wax so that's what I use is gulf wax it's cheap and works great and after pouring for a while I'll flux it again especially after adding lead to the pot and when you get done pouring to keep your pot looking good (this is what I do for my hot pot 2) I'll empty the excess lead in to my ingot mold and then I take a wire parts brush and scrub the inside of the pot down to try to get the left over trash off the inside of the pot I do all of this before I unplug my pot. I also found a replacement coil for my hot pot2 on jannsnetcraft.com web site for $19.00 but I'm thinking about replacing my cord to my hot pot
    thanks Crappie Josh aka C.J.
