The extra penny was probably the deposit on the bottle. As kids, we used to make good money picking up bottles along the road & turning them in to collect the deposit. When the older guys started getting drivers licenses (but not gas money) we'd round up a crowd of 5 or 6, fan out and find enough bottles to buy a couple gallons of gas, and joy ride all afternoon! Life was much simpler then.

I make a lead "banana" spoon in the 1/8, 1/4 weight, they are a little bigger than
Northlands forage minnow, and a whole lot cheaper. I cut the mold out of alum. stock
and starting late summer I sometimes can't make enough. They are devestating on all
species. I ring them with a treble, but this year I started using a bait hook for the
wallys. I can't believe the success I've had with these. I use these to pay for my gas
to go fishing along with some other spoons I make. Good Luck

Has anybody ever tried the beer cap spoons? you know the one where you poke a hole on the rim on both sides, add split rings to both and a hook on one. fold it over and add 4 or 5 bb's. i made one, havent really been able to try it but it seems pretty cool. heres a video. YouTube - Catching fish with beer caps. Must see this!

Have enough jigs but the jelly jigs caught my eye...As for that penny on the RR tracks..I tried it when I was a kid and told my dad..He laughed and told me it would not wreck a train..I asked why and he said they would vibrate off before the train got anywhere near..Hay I was a kid and had to try it..I got my penny back cause I waited to see the train wreck ..that never happened...So much for the penny..Have to get some of those jelly jigs...JIM....CL...

i think the penny would work better after the train ran over it. stack a dime on a penny tape and it down with scotch tape.

i would like to see pictures of these home made spoons. i dont use spoons hardly ever but would like to see your creations.
