Nightprowler : Been a nightfisherman most of my 62 years. Glow material is fine but can often easily be overdone. Usually all you need is a hint of glow. I like to use the soft glo beads on my jigs that you can get from Cabelas.
Cousin of mine was fishing with me one night and I murdered them on the little glow beads and live bait. He thought that little bead would NOT make that much of a difference. Well next thing you know its daylight and I got him whopped about 30 -10.
Three nights later I am basking in the glory again. Finally I asked him you want a rig like mine. Nope he replies I got some that are even better. What he meant by better was every thing on his jighead glowed. Actually this trip was much worse a whipping than first one.
I started with a small glow bead for night fishing and I stopped right there. Had other guys try to outglow me with bigger beads and bigger glo heads. My personal opinion is that too much looks too un- natural in the fishies world.
Ice and trout fishing over the years have taught me that little things can make a big difference.
By all means experiment but remember a little goes a long way.The lakes you fish might differ slightly than the ones I beat to a froth.
