Yea, if they eat crankbaits, they should eat those.

They look good. It amazes me the size bait a crappie will hit.

Crappie have big mouths and can eat pretty big baits. Obviously their mouths are not as big as a largemouth bass, but they are big. I usually fish with minnows and use a 2/0 wire hook. I think I get a better hookset on big crappie, but yet I have caught some incredibly small crappie that didn't have any trouble at all in getting that hook in their mouths. I like your jig.

No need for a 2" jig all the time, they don't just eat small minnow fry. Lots of shad and bream around here with profiles more like that. Just so many people can't get over fishing the tiny jigs. :p

Use what works for sure. My biggest steelhead on a jig was on an egg sucking leech that was 6 inches long. Everyone else was using tiny stuff in clear water and caught nothing. Sometimes the fish just want a big meal and to not mess with eating the Hors d'œuvre.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

been using a 3/32oz jig with a #1 sickle on it for years and now I make and tie some Pony head jigs with a 2/0 sickle and a #2 colorado blade to fish the lakes around here. When your home lakes have a length limit on the crappie that they have to be over 12" long before you can keep them you have to go big. But I am still amazed at how many 6-10" crappie you catch on those big jigs.

Just matching the hatch, huh Flat. If they are eating three inch shad you need to be throwing baits that size. Is that something new on the two jigs on the left? What is it? I want some !!!
