I don't mean to clog things up but I've tied a few different things and need some input. First is 3 Silly Leg jigs that are in a color that I see in a lot of boats around here. 1/16, 1/8 and 1/4oz. I'm gonna throw em with a chunk or craw to finish em off, except the 1/16. He goes nekked.
The first eyes I had ever done was for the jig swap and I wanted to try some more. My clear coat is junk so I apologize in advance for when they come off. New powder paint color and the eyes were done with model paint. the head and feathers both say purple, and are as different as day and night. I figure this jig is for crappie that are mostly blind. Fun doing it all, now to work on the clear coat. I need ideas on how y'all get it done without bleeding badly as mine does when I try to use H A N when I'm done. Thanx for lookin.

Your jigs will catch the fish. I like using the skirts too.

Look good Skeet.I've been playing with the skirts also.If you put them on a section at a time,Like the top first do a couple of wraps, then one side do a couple of wraps more towards the head and then a couple more on the bottom until you get the whole way to the head,it gives a porcupine look to the body, lol.I think it looks cool though. Then you can trim all the little spikes to the same length.

To get it not to bleed, #1 make sure you cure the heads, #2 make sure the eye paint is dry, and #3 just brush over it once so it's shiny and leave it alone. The more you brush it the more you wipe around.
If you are asking about clear coat over eyes, then I know that a few colors will do badly using nail polish, but clear vinyl works great over them. FL Yellow is the worst and will even come out a darker color. Chart too is not good for nail polish, but both work great with clear vinyl.

Zoom speed craw on the 2 big ones will get your line stretched.
Thanx for the answers on the clear coat guys, I'll give em a try.
Soswine, that was my thought too. we have smallies to chase around here, but they're elusive. Boat gets fixed I'll try em and post about it.

I like the skirts a lot! I think they would work really well for a lot of species. Crappie and bass will think they are leeches and bigger fish will just like them. I owuld use them for summer run steelhead here as well as bass and crappie.
Only thng would change is the head color to go a little better with the skirt material but no reason those colors won't work.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.
