If you can have someone show you that's the best way. It's so easy once you figure it out. I struggled for years trying to figure it out and one day I just did it, and poof, been doing it ever since. Can't imagine using half hitches anymore.
Try youtube and see if it helps. Also there's several styles of whip finishers, the wire ones suck.

Good looking jigs. Nice colors on all of em. I got a lot of feathers but I use hair on most of the jigs I tie. Good work with the jigs.

half hitch is what i use....myself i like it. then put a dot of glue and its held in place for the duration of the jigs life...
I use a Matarelli whip finisher and don't know how to half hitch. Never tried either. Jigs look good, good balance and size. Now that you've been playing with the big stuff, pull out 1/64 and do some of those. I think my bald spot is bigger cuz of the changes like that.
