Buddy I can see the stuff flying across the room LOL. If you're gonna stick with solid natural colors you might want to check out the grade 3's from Conranch Hackle Conranch Fly Tying Hackle the stems on them are oval shaped and work great.

If you want dyed florescent colors good luck I have no idea where to get them LOL.

I know alot of guys on the fly tying boards are using the clips from Radio Shack Mini Hook Clips - RadioShack.com instead of regular hackle pliers.

Thanks Fatman! I know Conranch and have several of their skins of the Juvenile and too expensive for jigs IMHO, LOL! Probably would have needed to charge the guy more if I used that stuff. That is some excellent skins, but pricey too. I think that I am going to pick up a few more adult skins to see how much there is. I have some nice Red Dun, Honey Dun, Variant & a Badger, but why not get more, LOL!

I just think some of this strung Chinese Saddle hackle is not as good as it could be. I am going to see if the Strung Woolly Booger Saddle is wide enough for what I am doing. I know the Woolly Booger Saddles feathers are very long, but not so wide. I may go back to him to ask if next time the hackle can be more narrow, but almost done with these now. You can bet with about 60-70 of them to do there was a few times I got peeved to say it nice.

    Thanks guys,

What size hooks are you tying them on? I was always toold the hackle length (one side of the stem) should be the same size as the hook gap.

Hey Skip, you need to get you a bionic shoulder like I did. Had this done May 24th. Now I can tie a jig like Steve Austin (Six Million Dollar Man). LOL

Damn that looks painful it self. I got the screws (6) in my back and a couple plates and that didn't go great.

I have given lots of though to talking to the Doc's about this.

Your talking about fly tying rules and that usually will be what they do, but this being a jig and I go by no rules for this stuff. Heck the head on the 1/8 Oz. ones would be bigger than the hackle, LOL! Little exaggeration there, LOL!
