Gray and light olive for here. East side gray, silver and orange.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

I carry all in solid colors and mixtures; both in plastics and hand ties. What would you add to the selection or what do you carry?
    Orange
    Yellow
    Violet/purple (bluish & reddish purples)
    Clear (with silver sparkles)
    Green

... and I'd have chartreuse tails on all of them, except the Clear/Sparkle one. :p

(I carry all the colors mentioned in all the replies, and yours, too .... and probably some that weren't even mentioned :p )

More complicated than I thought! Guess I'll be stuck with carrying about five crappie boxes around! In addition to all the colors; I've been having terrific results on mallard flank tails, so Im making a box up with just mallard flank tails; the other boxes are mostly maribou and flash.

That's a no brainer, you said you carry all solid color's?
White Chartuse pink blue and black wright?
also both in plastic's and hand tied wright?
"DIP and GLOW", i have and used them color varietie's,reason being white would be your base coat? no? only jig you need to cut and down size is your tackle box,no? (White)
I try to remember that when i purchase plastic's as to allway's have white!!!
Now before i have to buy a" BIGGER TACKLE BOX" and before everyone start's thowing the rotten tomater's @ me!! Just give it a lil. thought but i have more of Skip's jig's and the other jig MAKER"S homemade jig's you can immagine,as u can never have enough of them as you cant compare also!!!!!!!!!Just food for thought as dip and glow has been a reel good tool for me and has caught me a capitol B. Bunch, please use soft tommatoe's when you throw them at me and happy fourth of july GUY"S!! John!!

I mostly longline and pull jigs with hot grubs. I can tell ya on certain days the darker colors are better, but on other days light colors are the ticket. Sounds like with just 5 colors you'd be missing out on some of the action...atleast down here in the south. In general, anything with chart. works best around here.

Yes i hem hawd about the point i was making sorrie!
What iam trying to say is that with a white plastic i use all the dip and glow color's! Before i rule out for instance just a plain white jig and throw it back in the t. box. i use DIP & Glow and just tip the tail with a differnt color for example chartruse,as it turns my jig into a color combinatoin and sometime's of great confidence! Say for some reason you no the lake color is blue? If i use a white slider grub or wht. twister tail no matter jiggen/trolling before i rule it out i spike the tail with let's say chartruse, or lake color being blue dip half in blue and put the tail in hot green (CHARTRUESE),now i have a plastic twister/slider in the color of BLW./CHART. white is nuetral as you can use most if not all the dip and glow color's! Iffen i have wht. and run out of chart. i just dip the white in chartruse. i love to do this with buble gum(PInK)alot! But this method versus hand tied you are leaving a trail of taste that the fish may not like as i do better all in all casting with this method and trolling that is a slower retrieve i feel i do better with hand tied.
This is what work's for me and it's just my oppoin, but there are so many variable's as water clarietey this that and the other?????? Good fishing!! RFY!
