How Many Actually Test in Water

Back when I was addicted to the Green Carp. We would spend hours at the swimming pool tuneing, and checking crank baits.

Getting a lil off the subject with this but... When i was younger and still lived at home I went out and caught several 3 - 5 lb bass. Well I wanted to bring them home and show them off. Being a teenager I had other things to do than clean fish so I got the great idea to put them on a stringer and put them in the pool. (It was early fall so there were no chemicals in the water). Checked on them an hour later and they were doing fine so Im thinking -jackpot! I'll clean them tomorrow and the rents wont even know. Go out there the next day and 3 of them somehow got off the stringer! I let them sit for a day and went back out there the next morning. Caught all 3 on the same exact bait i caught them on 2 days before.

i thought that was what the wife's 29gallon fish tank was for :D ya i test what they look like in the water the wife dont like me doing it but i tell her if i catch one that just means she gets a new fish and i know my lure works so its a win/win situation

I use the bath tub for testing new baits like some of the spinners I've been making.If the blade starts to spin after moving it a foot and stays spinning after a couple turns than it is doing it's job.

I have a 30,000 gallon test tank that I use. I use it to check the fall rate and its 40 foot long so i can see how baits swim also. Every now and then I let folks swim in my test tank!

I take my trout and panfish ties from the winter and test them all in water when season starts. Easy to do in shallow clear water and I see how they work in many different situations as well as techniques.

I do the same with my steelhead and salmon jigs and flies in the early fall before the water clouds up. It is the only way to see how big of a profile they will have to know which ones are going to be needed in what water conditions.
