How Many Actually Test in Water

How many of you guys actually put a line on your jig and look and see what it does in the water before you make a bunch of them?I wanted to see if the bugs that I made floated with the soft foam bodies that I put into them.They did'nt,lol.But,they look better in the water with a line on them.I think that I will start doing this to all the jigs.Here's the bugs in the water.First is what I thought would be a Skipper Bug,it don't skip,but the legs make it look real in the water.The second is a red legged something or other,lol.It don't do to much.It's over 112 here until September,night fishing only.So the water bowl will be getting a lot of action,Ha.

This 1/64 with just a single strand of Clown Chenille with red legs looked the best in the water.

I test everything I make or design from plastics to chenilles If it dosn't work I don't use it or sell it! period I don't just mean catch test either it has to be durable nothing worse than a plastic bait thats good for 2 fish!or a loose chenille that sheds like a Lab in the summer!

I am making four of each jig I tie so I can see how the fish like them before I make a lot of something that doesn't work. Most of the Tye's that I am making are the same colors that my plastic body's are.

I test everything I make for action and durability to make sure it is doing what I intend for it to do. I use a 55 gallon aquarium as wellas a 5 gallon bucket. In addition I only make what I personally use.

If I am trying something new in materials and I want to know how it acts in water then I do. Most of the things I make are things I fish with and have been making even if a new color. So it needs to be something new like a couple years ago I bought some stuff they were going to stop making and I had no idea how it would look in the water I put it in some to see. So happens it looked much better in the water than I thought it would just looking at it tied.
It was Disco Yarn and have had some people ask where they can get some, LOL. Of course I do think they stopped making it and so it is not available. I plan on trying it more this fall and maybe this summer if I ever get out. Looks much better in the water and good colors too.

Whenever I tie something new I check it. Sometimes a jig that looks great dry doesn't do what you want in the water and vice versa. Gotta try them all.

I have a 30,000 gallon test tank that I use. I use it to check the fall rate and its 40 foot long so i can see how baits swim also. Every now and then I let folks swim in my test tank!
