Good looking jig. I'll have to try the bread wrapper trick. Seems like the legs are always in the way when I tie gill flies. Thanks

Here's my latest.Bass love them, gills try to eat them. So,I figure they are good, lol.Maybe they think they are a crayfish?I don't know.1/8 oz. football head jig, orange bucktail tyed to the bend in the hook, then half the body, the rear part in Clown Chenille, then 4 strands of brown legs tied in the middle to get each side, then the rest up to the head with the Clown Chenille. It's got a 1/0 hook,so the gills try to carry it around, but can't eat it.
I have learned when you tye it this way it much easier.Once I get the legs tyed,I pull them back and put a bread wrapper tie around to hold them out of the way.No tangles with the legs that way.

azslabber,
Another suggestion, try tying in the legs after the buck tail and before the Chenille.

Here's one that I just tied,1/64 with a size 8 sickle hookI'm going to trim the legs when I'm at the lake before I cut them.Maybe a 1/16 inch at a time until I get it right, lol.

I love working with that foam for this kind of stuff. I am thinking about getting a bunch more of the little foam bodies. Lots you can do with that stuff. I have a bunch of sheets of foam and that is good to with cutters for bodies, but I think that I like the cylindrical foam better.
I bet you could use a really light weight jig head and tie some on that and it would sink really slow if at all?

Here is another one made using Tungsten body.
