I question my self all the time about if I really still want to keep selling jigs. I started tying to have something to do and just fell in love with tying jig, flies, Poppers, what ever I just like doing it. However selling them and being busy so much you can't fish as much as you want and then you can't even tie what you want to even for your self. So you got to want to do this and like it enough to put up with the down side. It's a beautiful hobby and great to just make this stuff and then catch fish with it and probably would never burn out like that and enjoy this for life.

If you find your self at some point saying to your self, I got to finish these before I go fishing then your in trouble, LOL!

here's how. take how much work you put into it,how much money it took to make and how many the customers likely want and put it together. then come up with the price you think is right. like, if it was easy to make, cheap, and it is most likely going to be bought in large amounts. then make it cheap. (50. to 75.) but if it took hours of work, was very expensive, and may not be bought so much. then make it expensive ($1.00 to$5.00)

That is so true Skip. Perhaps that is the main reason I shut my website down and just tie for friends and myself. I am 65 and I want to fish...not be tied to a bench. (No pun intended):D:D:D:D:D

My wife sells "dip mixes" at local craft shows. She was looking for a name for her products and I suggested "Dip This" trying to be funny. That is what she calls them. LOL I've tied some to just package and sell with her for fun and I needed a name. Skip suggested "Dip This In The Water". So I guess that's it. LOL I'm not gonna let selling jigs take over the things I wanta do. I'm just gonna give them to friends, have enough to fish with, and sell a few for fun.

i think im just going to give them away cause at some point your either going to get some jigs back in return or some one is going to take you fishing or bring/give you somthing in return so its going to be a win/win eventualy

I sold them for year and was so busy with orders that I never could fish.Just like Skip says. It is really not worth it
I sold them for 1.25 a piece and it still was not enough to pay me for my time. I gave my website and my jig tying up totally.
I maybe selling all my jig tying supplies and bare jigs very soon .

The worst part about selling your jigs is doing it legally. if you sell jigs you are supose to charge a excise tax of %10 This requires you getting a E.I.C # from the goverment. then you are supose to in my state anyway charge a sales tax of almost %8 so that means I had to get a state salels tax ID #. So for every jig I sell for $1 18cents goes to the goverment. This means I have to keep very good records of every sale and of the supplies I buy. also every 3 months I have to send in my excise tax payment and at end of year send in my sales tax payment then bring all my records to my tax guy so he can say dude is this worth it for a extra 2k a year lol well I'm starting to think it isnt so after this year Ill probly close my site and just trade my jigs/plastics or just sell them for cost to friends and others because i do like to tie and pour alot and there is no way I will ever use as many jigs as I tie.
